Python Developer (full-time in Oxford)

We’re looking for a Python Developer to join our team in the heart of Oxford. We are an award winning, full service digital agency, which means you will get to work on a diverse and challenging portfolio whilst supporting teammates and driving innovation.

You will have at least 3 years of commercial experience; you will have touched on at least one open source platform; you’ve mentored others (or are ready to), and; you’ve probably contributed to an open source project or done some level of public speaking at some sort of tech event. You’ve dabbled in devops and / or sysadmin tasks.

This role will see you join a multidisciplinary team and looking after some Python and Django based projects. You are looking to grow and will have the opportunity to test and strengthen your leadership and mentoring skills. You’ll also have the chance to research and drive innovative approaches for clients and internal projects alike. Finally, you will be comfortable interacting with clients during requirement gathering sessions and demonstrations.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Python / Django application development
  • Analysing project requirements, scoping them, and creating delivery plans supported by other developers and the PM team
  • Driving innovation and development
  • Taking the lead on key areas of projects
  • Presenting your work to clients and teammates
  • Championing high quality technical standards
  • Mentoring other teammates

You will have:


  • At least 3 years demonstrable experience in commercial software development, specifically Python / Django
  • Experience in one of: Django, Wagtail, Drupal, C#, React, Ionic, Cordova
  • Great communication skills; written and face to face
  • Experience turning requirements into a delivery plan with other developers
  • Experience with Agile and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Pride in code quality and test-driven development
  • An interest in mentoring, personal development, and knowledge exchange

You might have (but it’s not a deal breaker):


  • Experience with PHP development
  • Comfortable with day-to-day sysadmin tasks on Linux via command line
  • You’ve integrated a good number of APIs
  • Worked with Jenkins or other continuous integration and automated deployment systems
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as Agile Certification or Certified Developer in any technologies
  • Open source project contributions or maintenance
  • Public speaking at tech talks or other relevant events
